In the 3x Pit column, we ask three tough questions of one of our colleagues. This time the honor goes to Lisa Witten. Get to know the face behind this ambitious and fanatical Rent and Real Estate attorney.

What would you like to do over in your career?

"Over doing it sounds a little negative. There is something I would like to do again, though. That is my time as a board member at the Jonge Balie Arnhem (later Jonge Balie Gelderland). As secretary and later president of the Young Bar Association, I had a tremendous time with a very nice club of people. We organized beautiful events and were guests at many special galas at home and abroad. During my time as president, the Jonge Balies Arnhem and Zutphen merged into the Jonge Balie Gelderland. This was a wonderful assignment for me that allowed me to gain a lot of experience in the administrative and organizational fields."

Who or what inspires you?

"Go-getters and positive individuals inspire me tremendously. For example, there is someone in my circle of acquaintances who unfortunately suffered a spinal cord injury due to a motorcycle accident, paralyzing him from his chest down. I have enormous respect for the way he has dealt with this major setback in his life. To me, he is pre-eminently the example of a true go-getter. He has remained positive and has not allowed himself to be hindered in his life. For example, he started a wonderful family with three children after the accident and has been a sought-after speaker in healthcare and business ever since.

Furthermore, I also secretly admire Queen Máxima of the Netherlands. How she became a real Dutch queen as an Argentinean I find admirable in addition to all the social duties she performs. In addition, she always looks fantastic."

Do you always follow the rules?

"Always is very far-reaching, but if I had to choose yes or no, I choose yes (although I have driven a little too fast on the highway on occasion). Norms and values and also the rules of conduct of the legal profession are extremely important to me. In addition, as a lawyer, I obviously love (legal) rules. The art is in explaining these rules. For my clients, I make every effort to explain the rules in their favor and I see this as a challenge every time!"
