Giesbers challenges Poelmann van den Broek to wheelchair basketball challenge

Nijmegen - 7 sporty toppers from Giesbers took on 8 tough fighters from Poelmann van den Broek in a wheelchair basketball challenge last week. Stichting Koprol organized this competition in the Sint Maartenskliniek.

After distributing the wheelchairs, first some simple wheelchair skills were taught by the 024 On Wheels team. How does a wheelchair work and how can you drive straight? Then in half an hour of driving lay-ups, everyone was prepared for the race.

With full enthusiasm both teams took to the field. Poelmann van den Broek put the ball in the net first and then managed to score a good number of points. They won the practice match 5-0. In the "real" match that followed, the roles were reversed: the blood-curdling match ended in a 3-0 victory for Giesbers. Subsequently, 024 On Wheels proved to be a formidable opponent by winning gloriously from both teams.

In short, it was a wonderful evening of sports and, despite the muscle pain, definitely worth repeating!
