Earlier, my office colleague Emile Sahhar wrote about the upcoming introduction of the UBO register in the Netherlands. Recently, the necessary Implementation Act for the UBO Register was passed by the Senate. The law will enter into force on Sept. 27, 2020. As a result, newly incorporated entities are required to register information of their ultimate beneficial owners (UBOs) in the trade register of the Chamber of Commerce (KVK). Existing entities must register their UBOs within 18 months of coming into effect. The UBO register will become part of the Chamber of Commerce trade register.
