For the past period, we have had the pleasure of having Najib Muslem and Jonathan Scholte as interns in our office. Jonathan was here for the last time on October 26 and tomorrow Najib will have his last internship day. In the 8 weeks of their internship, the students at Radboud University in Nijmegen learned a lot, they say.

Thrown into the deep end

Najib joined the Construction team, which he learned about during the master class that Poelmann van den Broek gave during his master's degree in Civil Law. He particularly liked the practical experience he gained at our firm: "Attending hearings, client meetings and case law consultations, as well as writing drafts and memos. That's really the work of a lawyer which I've learned a lot about recently. You get involved in everything and thrown in at the deep end in a positive way."

Good atmosphere

Beforehand, Jonathan, who interned with the Entrepreneurship team, already had an image of Poelmann van den Broek: "A medium-sized firm where hard work and a good atmosphere in the workplace are highly valued. That turned out to be about right. My work consisted mainly of doing research to highlight a particular side of a case. Occasionally I was also allowed to draft letters for the client or prepare a witness examination and I found that very cool to do."

Involved in a variety of activities

Activities with the trainee lawyers have also certainly stayed with Najib: "The Young Bar is very active within the office and in addition, I attended an interesting seminar. Furthermore, as a trainee you get involved in activities outside office hours. I really liked that." Jonathan adds: "You get a sneak peek in that area too, for example through office drinks and Young Bar Association activities, as Najib points out."

The future

Najib is doing the masters in Civil Law and Criminal Law. After his studies, he would like to continue as a lawyer in the field of Civil Law. Jonathan is completing his Master's in Corporate Law and is also taking Civil Law courses.
