On August 1, 2021, Poelmann van den Broek will move into new premises. In the year the law firm for business owners celebrates its 45th anniversary, it will move from the heart of the city center to a brand new office on the outskirts of Nijmegen.

For customers, that means a slightly easier approach route. "But that was not the main reason," said Arjan Stuij, director. "At the top of our wish list was a more contemporary way of working together. Where now everyone has their own office, the new building offers the possibility to work in teams. We find it important to facilitate that as much as possible. Because it is precisely the combination of all our areas of expertise that enables us to provide clients with specialized advice in all relevant areas."

Appearance and comfort

An upcoming new lease was the impetus to evaluate the current location and explore other options. It turned out that the new building on Wijchenseweg offers the opportunity to realize the complete package of requirements. Stuij: "Meeting each other more easily and working together even better. Plus the advantages of a new building in terms of appearance and comfort. So an option that is balanced in all respects."

Approachable and open

Instead of the individual small offices in the current building, the attorneys will soon have one room together where they can work quietly and also many places where they can work together. Stuij: "That fits in with the approachability and openness that characterize our office. In addition, matters are increasingly transcending expertise. Take smart building, for example, where not only construction law is important but also ICT and privacy. It is becoming increasingly important to combine all areas of knowledge and to serve clients from multiple areas of expertise simultaneously."

Space to meet

The experience of working from home in recent months showed how important it is to be able to work location-independent. Stuij: "Because we have adapted our hardware and software, in the new building we can choose the workplace that suits us at that moment. For example, a team place, a concentration place or even a place outside on the terrace. And also at home, yes. But we deliberately did not opt for less square footage. Now it has become even clearer how important it is to meet each other. We are giving that the main role in our new premises with a large coffee corner, a terrace, a bar, rooms that can be flexibly adapted for 5 to 20 people, places where clients can work and a large multifunctional room where we can receive large groups."
