Back to the beginning
The starting point of the journey goes back to 2014, when Annemarie and Valerie met on the Young Bar Association (Gelderland) board. At the time, Valerie was already working at Poelmann van den Broek and Annemarie at another firm in Apeldoorn. The click was there immediately, and the friendly atmosphere set the tone for a professional relationship. Annemarie: "After several years, I was tipped off by Valerie about a vacancy at the labor team. Just call and see if it's something. I liked it and that was the beginning of a successful collaboration."
Joining forces
In 2017, Annemarie and Valerie brought the areas of privacy and IT law into the firm even before the AVG went into effect in 2018. That law gave them an excellent opportunity to collaborate and put their specialties on the map.
Although the jurisdictions have now split and both have formed their own teams, they continue to work closely together. Says Annemarie, "Especially given the rise of AI and the growing importance of cybersecurity, collaboration between our specialties is important." This multidisciplinary approach has led not only to more specialized knowledge, but also to added value for both the firm and its clients. Valerie: "We show that we not only closely follow the latest developments, but also use them ourselves and collaborate with all teams in this."
DNA match
Annemarie is thrilled to make the move to salary partnership with this firm. "I am really a DNA match with this firm and our clients," she says. "That's because of the way we work. It really is a different way of practicing law, namely: fast, approachable, practical but also high-level. You think along, stand beside the client and are a sparring partner. That suits me."
Building further
"I have been working within Poelmann van den Broek as a salary partner since 2020," says Valerie, "and have built with my team to further establish our specialization in commercial contracts, IP and IT. I look forward to continuing this as a partner over the next few years and helping shape our firm's strategy even further.
Both partners are delighted with the confidence they have gained in taking the step with this firm. "From day one I have felt at home within Poelmann van den Broek, says Valerie, "I have now been working here with great pleasure for over 11 years, for a nice group of clients with great colleagues.
