The first international Labor Day was celebrated in 1890 when workers -in the midst of the industrial revolution- fought for (among other things) an eight-hour work day. Labor law and social developments have long gone hand in hand. Anno 2019, discussions include the widening gap between "permanent" and "flex," (false) self-employment and platform labor, and dismissal law is still perceived by some as "too rigid.
Employment law is therefore going through another shake-up. The Labor Market in Balance Act (WAB) should provide the necessary solutions. The new law is expected to take effect on January 1, 2020. See our updates from the past year on this new law here, here and here.
On Thursday, October 10, 2019, you will learn all about the new WAB. Our attorneys will be happy to bring you up to speed on the upcoming changes in labor law during the seminar "Labor law under construction.
